Privacy Policy
At Word Talk, we believe privacy is a fundamental right. This policy outlines our commitment to transparency and the protection of your personal information.

1. Data We Do Not Collect
Unlike traditional language platforms, Word Talk does not require account registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or physical location. We have no access to your voice recordings or the essays you write in our Sandbox—these are processed locally within your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
2. Browser Storage & Cookies
We use **Local Storage** and **Session Storage** to save your preferences, such as your dark mode setting or your progress in the Flashcards tool. These are stored on your device and are not shared with us.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. We may use essential technical cookies to ensure the website functions correctly across different browsing environments.
3. Third-Party Services & APIs
Our website utilizes several standard browser APIs and external CDNs (Content Delivery Networks):
- **Web Speech API**: Used for pronunciation checks and text-to-speech. Processing happens locally or via the browser's default provider.
- **Free Dictionary API**: Used in our Dictionary tool. Requests are sent to look up word definitions; please refer to their respective privacy policies.
- **Cloudflare/Google Fonts**: We use CDNs to serve fonts and scripts efficiently. These providers may log standard technical data (like IP addresses) for security and performance monitoring.
4. Children's Privacy
Word Talk is safe for users of all ages. Because we do not collect personal identifying information (PII), our service is inherently compliant with major children's privacy regulations like COPPA. We encourage parents to supervise their children's use of online educational tools.
5. International Compliance
We aim to respect privacy standards worldwide, including the GDPR (EU) and CCPA (USA). Since we do not store personal data, many of the typical requirements for data processing agreements do not apply to us. However, your right to transparency and control over your digital footprint remains our priority.
